Annual Prayer
It is only at swalath nagar in malappuram where a turnout appears during prayer congregation as part of holy night of Laiathul Quadr after the massive gatherings in Mecca and Madeena in the world. Around four lakhs of people, according to national media reports, reach here to quench their spiritual thirst. The time, from 4.30p.m to 2.30a.m, is extensively engaged by various kinds of spiritual performings such as spiritual supplication, invocations, voluntary prayers and repentance (thou bah) so on.
They chant in unison the eulogies (swalath) of the Holy Prophet. The young and old assemble at the swalath Nagar, seeking eternal blessings. They forget themselves in devotion and submit themselves completely befor the Almighty expecting the rare blessing of “Lailathul Khadar”. It is the night they have been waiting for the whole year. It is perhaps the night they have been promised the blessing of a thousand months. They keep awake the whole night in prayer in expectation of the divine power to salvage their souls. In the spiritually charged atmosphere they refresh their souls once again and return home in peace. This movement of wisdom and spirituality should strive further for it is a beacon of hope for social and spiritual change.                                                                         More Photos...
